Introduction

Welcome to my web site. By day (metaphorically speaking) I am an IT Software Instructor working in Sydney Australia. Photography though has long been a passion of mine. I have had a camera of some sort in my hand for almost as long as I can remember.

 

Landscape photography in particular has been a fantastic release for me. Inspired by some of Australia’s distinguished landscape photographers, I gain much satisfaction venturing out into nature with my wife (an excellent location researcher) and my camera.

 

My hope has always been to create not just beautiful, but high quality images worthy of enlarging on professional, photographic papers and displaying proudly on a suitably lit wall. To this end I have always shot my images on either medium format film or more recently, Full Frame DSLR.

 

I am still learning the art of photography and I know I always will be. There is so much to see and photograph. There are so many techniques to master. This web site and my blog are a mechanism by which I can share that process with others.

 

About the Images

My aim with the majority of my images is to present them with realism. Where at all possible, digital manipulation has been limited to what a professional printer would have done in the traditional analogue darkroom.

 

Having said that, I think it is a shame not to take advantage of the wonderful digital tools available to photographers today. Images that have significant digital manipulation are presented in their own category (Interpretation) to support this clear distinction.

 

Time to Print

Sadly it is not possible to show the true detail and colour of these images on a computer screen. When I print my images I only use professional papers such as Kodak Endura Metallic or Fujiflex Supergloss.

 

These papers are chosen not only for their superior image quality but also for their colourfastness and longevity.
